ORANGE DOUBLES LOCAL CUSTOMER BASE IN 12 MONTHS
ORANGE has more than doubled its Northern Ireland customer base in the space of 12 months, according to the latest customer statistics releases by the company.
Sales figures for the second quarter of the year show Orange sold more than 31,000 mobile phones in Northern Ireland taking its total subscriber base to nearly 300,000 compared to the 135,000 during the same period last year.
Across the UK, Orange added 830,000 new customers, taking its active customer base to 11.9 million.
Commenting on Orange’s growth Eric Carson, General Manager for Orange in Northern Ireland, said: “Orange continues to grow from strength to strength in the Province. We remain Northern Ireland’s largest and fastest growing network taking a significant percentage of all new monthly mobile phone sales.
“We believe Orange is best placed to offer Northern Ireland’s mobile users the coverage and quality of service they have come to expect. People trust Orange and we are confident Orange will continue to grow customer numbers, loyalty and usage leading Northern Ireland’s mobile market to the 70 per cent penetration levels expected by Christmas.” (CD)

Two Orange Halls Attacked
Two Orange Halls have been attacked over the weekend. A number of paint bombs were thrown at Rosedernott Orange hall, outside Cloughmills, during the early hours of Sunday, 23 July. A Union flag was also removed, and a flag pole damaged, from inside the grounds of Roden Orange hall in Kilkeel.

BBC NI Ends Live Broadcast Of Twelve Of July Parade
BBC NI will no longer broadcast live coverage of Belfast's Twelfth of July parade. The broadcaster has written to the Orange Order informing of the decision, which it said had been taken "after careful consideration". It is understood that the day will now be covered in an hour-long programme from eight locations across NI.
