UTV Wins Prestigious Award
UTV has received a Special Award at the One ITV Regions and Nations Awards in London for its’ recognition of UTV’S outstanding commitment to Current Affairs and Investigative Journalism, including UTV Live Tonight and Insight Investigations that UTV has passionately broadcast over the years.
A special mention was given to the recent Insight documentary ‘The resurrection of Brendan Smyth’ that also won the national Royal Television Society award in the Nations and Regions Current Affairs and News category.
Darwin Templeton, Head of News, UTV, said: “It was a great honour to accept this award on behalf of everyone who has contributed to UTV current affairs programmes over the years.
"The judges paid tribute to the work that had been done against the backdrop of the Troubles and noted that the journalistic skills developed in those days were still very much in evidence today.
"It was very pleasing to see our commitment to current affairs and the efforts of our staff acknowledged in this way by our peers in ITV."
The One ITV Regions and Nations Award celebrates creative and excellent journalism in UK news and current affairs.

Minister Reacts To Teachers' Union Ballot Threat
Education Minister Paul Givan has responded to the announcement by several teachers' unions that they plan to ballot their members for industrial action over 2024/25 pay. Earlier this year, the Minister provided funding to successfully resolve the long-running industrial dispute over teachers' pay for 2021-24.

UTV Ireland Secures Dublin Headquarters
UTV's new all-Ireland channel has secured its headquarters in the ground floor of Macken House, Dublin 1. UTV Media plc is already located at Macken House, with its FM104 radio station located on the first floor and Q102, UTV Radio Solutions and UTV Sales based on the second floor of the building.

UTV Ireland Given The Go Ahead
UTV Ireland has received approval to start a new television service in the Republic of Ireland. The new station will air from the January 2015 following the signing of a 10-year agreement with the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI).
