Kircubbin Kids Learn About Racing Thrills
A keen young cyclist from Kircubbin won ten cycling helmets and goody bags full of pancakes.
Connor Caldwell from St Mary's primary school won the Treat of Champions competition run by Sunblest pancake company.
The aim of the campaign was to encourage families from across Northern Ireland to get on their bikes and get active.
Connor shared the goody bags out among his classmates.
Belfast-based Chain Reaction Cycles teamed up with Sunblest for the initiative.
Two cyclists from the company came in to school to show the pupils the kind of equipment they use for road races including the Tour of the North, a four-part race they completed as a team in Stormont, Rathfriland, Magherafelt and Broughshane.
Elva O'Connor of Sunblest said: "It was great to see the guys in action as they encouraged Connor and his classmates to get active!"
Nigel Elder, Chain Reaction Cycles Team Manager added: "We had a great morning with the class giving them a glimpse of some of the great events we have been a part of in 2012."

Funeral held for teenage cyclist killed in North Belfast
The funeral of the teenage cyclist killed when his bicycle was struck buy a car was held on Friday. The private funeral service for 16-year-old Thomas McDonald took place from his home in the White City area of Newtownabbey. Hundreds of people lined the Whitewell Road as the cortege of mourners passed the spot where the youth was killed.

Ballymena Security Alert Ends
A security alert in Ballymena, Co Antrim, has now ended. A suspicious object was discovered in the Cambridge Avenue area on Monday evening. The device was an "improvised firework", police have confirmed. Residents have since returned to their homes.

Ombudsman: Police Failed To Investigate Crash Between Car And Cyclist
The Police Ombudsman's office has found that officers failed to properly investigate a crash which left a cyclist hospitalised for five days. The man was hit by a car in Glengormley, County Antrim, while cycling to work on 11 September 2018.

Cyclist Killed In North Down
A cyclist has been killed following a collision with a lorry. It is understood that the victim is male and aged in his 30s. The incident happened on the A1 carriageway outside Newry at about 20:30 on Thursday. The man died in hospital a short time after arrival. No details on the man's identity have been released.
