Eighty New Jobs In Tyrone

Eighty new jobs are set to benefit Dungannon and Cookstown, the Tyrone Courier has reported.

The Time bar, restaurant and nightclub which opened in Cookstown last weekend has created 50 full- and part-time jobs, while a new supermarket due to open in Moygashel this autumn will need thirty members of staff.

The 4,000 square foot state-of-the-art Costcutter will be in the old Stanley Cooker building.

It has already got the go-ahead from planning bosses, and work will start next week after the Twelfth of July holidays.

Lurgan man Melvin Moutra, due to be the store manager, said the shop will be a great boost to the Moygashel area.

"There will be 30 plus jobs being created and it's a big boost for the local area," he said. "We saw an opening here for a good sized supermarket to serve the people of Moygashel and the wider area. Everything is good to go after the holidays."

The Moutray family have been in retail for 52 years, and already own two Costcutters stores, one in Lurgan and the other in nearby Dollingstown.

Mr Moutray said: "We have a lot of contacts in the area - there was a Costcutter here before seven or eight years ago which did well and hopefully it'll be the same for us. his has been in planning since last November so it'll be nice to get it up and running. We are here to work with the people of Moygashel."
