Sean Quinn 'Still Living In Republic'

Sean Quinn has dismissed claims that he has fled the Republic and set up home in Co Fermanagh, the Belfast Telegraph has reported.

The bankrupt businessman was seen at his mansion in Ballyconnell last week.

A close friend told the newspaper that rumours had been circulating for three months about his whereabouts, but despite some traveling Mr Quinn had been based at Ballyconnell, where he has lived for 30 years.

Mr Quinn was born and raised in Derrylin, north of the border, but has made the Republic of Ireland his home.

His home is half a mile from the Slieve Russell Hotel, which his youngest daughter Brenda (25) once owned and later lost during the collapse of the various family companies.

Last week, Mr Quinn issued a statement to Northern Sound radio station questioning the estimated €1.6bn liabilities of Quinn Insurance.

He said: "I believe that history will ultimately demonstrate that the deal between Anglo Irish Bank and Liberty Mutual will be recognised as the worst possible outcome for the State.”
