City Hotel Expansion Announced To Boost International Business
Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster today announced a £500,000 expansion by the City Hotel, Londonderry, which aims to boost its international business.
Situated on the banks of the Foyle River, the four-star hotel is one of the leading hotels in Londonderry and attracts customers from Great Britain, the Republic of Ireland and beyond.
In a bid to increase the number of visitors from Europe and the US, the 146-bedroom hotel plans to add 12 luxury suites onto its top floor.
Invest NI has offered the City Hotel £70,000 of support towards the project which is due to be completed by December 2012. Five new jobs are expected to be created as a result of the redevelopment.
Arlene Foster said: "The City Hotel is a highly regarded hotel, which is positioning itself to benefit from the increase in demand for accommodation expected during Londonderry's high profile year as the UK City of Culture 2013.
"As the expectations of our visitors continue to rise, it is important that we not only meet, but exceed such expectations, by providing a wide range of quality accommodation and superior customer service. By capitalising on the demand, for both business and leisure purposes, we can deliver a top quality visitor experience which will keep people coming back."
