Bus Driver Robbed In Monkstown Estate

A Metro bus driver has been robbed after three masked men boarded the bus armed with a screwdriver in the Monkstown estate, at approximately 19.00 on Tuesday.

The gang demanded cash before making off to a woodland close by.

According to Unite the Union, it is the second time in a month a driver has been robbed, and Translink said it will be meeting with union representatives to discuss the situation.

The union has announced that buses will not be going into the area after 19.00.

Michael Dornan from Unite apologised for the inconvenience, however he admitted they have no other choice.
