Moy Print Company's Golden Olympics
A Moy man is celebrating a successful Olympics after his company, BE Print, was contracted to supply thousands of copies of documents for the 2012 London Games.
The eleven separate control documents were used by judges, referees and officials from the IOC to record decisions made, mainly in doping control.
The IOC laid down strict control systems for the 2012 Olympic committee to follow. Accurate documentation and quality are the key requisites which BE Print met and led to the company supplying the NCR documents.
The news of BE Print’s success was warmly received at Dungannon Enterprise Centre where Mr Ashfield-Beattie has received mentoring and marketing support from the Mid Ulster Business agency, Purple Dot, which has helped him gain the confidence to undertake a tender on the scale of the Olympics.
Alanna Collins of the agency said: “One of the elements of our training programmes was website marketing and it is good to know that shortly after the company uploaded their site they had an enquiry from the Olympics printing brokers."
Opening in 1991 with just the help of his wife Eleanor, Brian Ashfield-Beattie has moved with the times from a plate and print setup to today's digital processing with state of the art equipment and a 24 hour turnaround of orders to boot.
Believed to be one of the first users of the internet in his County Tyrone village, Mr Ashfield-Beattie admits it has been the most important asset for his business and says it would be impossible to operate without it.
He said: "When I first used the internet we shared the dial up connection with a number of other businesses. It was frustrating the length of time something as simple as an email took. Today we are light years ahead with fibre optic connectivity."
It has been thanks to broadband that his business is now developing into overseas markets with orders coming in as a result of their internet presence.
Closer to home the company has carved out a niche supplying the haulage, bakery and meat processing industry with everything from letterheads, NCR booklets to presentation folders.
