Murder hunt launched after body found
Police have launched a murder investigation after a man's body was found at a house in south Belfast last night.
The body of 51-year-old John Martin Barr was discovered by his brother-in-law at around 9pm at Hatfield Street in the lower Ormeau area.
He had apparently suffered serious head wounds.
A post mortem examination is expected to be carried out later today.
Police have confirmed that they are treating the death as suspicious and that enquiries were at an early stage.

Emergency services and police attended the scene and the body was recovered from the water. Police are not treating the death as suspicious.

Police officers in Northern Ireland are to use Body Worn Video cameras while on duty. A pilot scheme was successfully introduced in the Foyle area and is part of a £1.5million investment by the Department of Justice. Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

A woman out walking her dog found the babies body inside a green plastic bag at Legacurry Road in Lisburn 30 years ago. A post-mortem examination found that the baby had died of head injuries.
