Craigavon Murder Accused Appears In Court
A 20-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a 46-year-old in Craigavon last weekend.
David Neill was stabbed to death at his house in Parkmore in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Daniel McCartney, from Enniskeen, Drumgor in Craigavon, was remanded in custody at Lisburn Magistrates Court.
A PSNI detective told the court that during his time in police custody, the defendant had continually denied stabbing Mr Neill, and said he did not know anything about a knife at the scene.
The detective said the PSNI had evidence from some people saying the accused did not stab the victim, but evidence from others that he did.
Mr McCartney is due to appear in court again by videolink on October 12.
Border Staff Seize 100 Kilos Of Tobacco
Hand rolling tobacco with a potential tax revenue of £20,000 was found hidden in wooden shelving inside a shipment from China.
Customs officers later searched a private address in Belfast's Donegall Road area and arrested a man, who was later released.
John Whiting of HMRC said: "We would normally expect concealments of this standard for illegal drug imports, but this shows the lengths that criminals will go to in order to avoid paying tax."
He stressed that illegal cigarettes were not a "victimless crime" as their profits supported criminal activity.

Man Jailed For Life After Pleading Guilty To Murder
A man has been jailed for life for murdering a woman in his flat. Kaspars Stamers, 29, pleaded guilty to murdering Ksenjia Vorosilina. He appeared at Craigavon Crown Court today. The 28-year-old woman was found stabbed to death at Stamers' home in Warren Grove, Lisburn, on 28 May last year.

Woman Charged With Attempted Murder After Man Stabbed In Co Down
A 36-year-old woman has been charged with attempted murder after a man was stabbed in Co Down. The 54-year-old victim was stabbed in the Manor Court area in Moira on Monday. He is currently in a serious but stable condition in hospital. The woman is to appear at Craigavon Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

The PSNI has welcomed the sentencing of a man at Craigavon Crown Court in connection with a cannabis farm disovered in Annahilt in February, 2023. Clive Weir, from the Annahilt area, was sentenced to 18 months in prison and 18 months on licence.

Arson Attack On 5G Mast In West Belfast
Detectives in Belfast are investigating a suspected arson attack on a 5G mast in the Andersonstown Road area. The incident occurred around 9.55pm on Wednesday, November 13th. Detective Sergeant Faulkner confirmed that officers attended the scene alongside the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, who successfully extinguished the blaze.
