Police Revisit Lisburn Beating Site In Clues Search
Police officers investigating a "brutal" attack on an autistic Lisburn teenager will revisit the scene where he was beaten.
Scott Vineer, 17, went missing on September 6 and was found unconscious at a disused furniture showroom near the Lagan a day later, during a search by a police dog handler.
He had been beaten about the head and is now in a critical condition in hospital.
Mr Vineer, who has been described as a 'gentle giant', is a student at the South Eastern Regional College in Lisburn and attends a job club run by the learning disability charity, Mencap.
Police have not yet established a motive for what they say was a "brutal and senseless attack" on the 6ft 3in teenager.
They say there is nothing to suggest a sectarian motive and they are not aware if anything was stolen from him.
A 17-year-old man was arrested in connection with the assault but has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
On their visit to the area today, police officers will speak to motorists and pedestrians in the hope of finding out further information.
They have asked anyone with information to come forward.

The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Detectives have renewed an appeal for information following a deliberate arson attack at a vacant property in the Weaver's Grange area of Newtownards. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 17 November, 2023. Police and firefighters were called to the scene at around 12:40am.

The PSNI in Lisburn have issued an appeal for help in tracing the whereabouts of Thomas McKeown. The 52-year-old was last seen at around 11.12am in the centre of Lisburn on Tuesday 11 June. Police said that Thomas is a "vulnerable adult" and they are keen to trace his current whereabouts.

The police officer who was left severely injured when an attacker beat her about the head with an iron bar has regained consciousness. The 54-year-old female officer was attacked by the man in the early hours of Monday morning whilst on duty inside Lisburn Police Station.
