Anti-war protestors disrupt Princess’s visit

Princess Anne faced an anti-war protest as she carried out engagements during a two-day visit to Northern Ireland.

Around 20 protestors carrying placards proclaiming “Save the Children of Iraq” confronted the Princess Royal outside Magee College in Londonderry.

The Princess is the patron of charity Save the Children.

In Londonderry to open a £6.7 million educational resource centre, the Princess was met with protestors blowing whistles and chanting anti-war slogans.

It is understood that police made no arrests, but the protest continued during the duration of the visit.

As part of her engagements the Princess visited Magilligan Prison yesterday and met with senior staff. She also visited troops from the King’s Own Hussars as part of a private visit to the regiment in Omagh.

The Princess is Colonel-in-Chief of a number of British regiments.
