Belfast Telecoms Firm In Scottish Move
Belfast telecommunications company Rainbow has announced it will be setting up business in Scotland.
Rainbow Communications will be crossing the Irish Sea in a move expected to create 20 jobs.
It is thought the expansion will bring 14 jobs to Rainbow’s new Glasgow office, while six further posts will be created at its Belfast base. The expansion takes the company's workforce to 80.
The company provides communication services such as phone lines, broadband and mobiles to over 5,500 public and private sector clients.
It has also signed a sponsorship deal with Edinburgh’s Hibernian Football Club to mark its expansion into Scotland.
The South Stand at Hibs’ Easter Road ground will now be renamed, following the deal.
Eric Carson, director of Rainbow Communications, said they believed that "the Scottish market will drive significant growth for our group in the next few years."
The jobs created in Belfast have been supported by Invest Northern Ireland.
Oonagh Hinds, Invest NI's eastern regional manager, said: "This is a significant new venture for Rainbow Communications as it seeks to expand its services outside Northern Ireland for the first time.
"Invest NI's support towards the company's marketing strategy and expansion of its Belfast workforce will play an important role in ensuring Rainbow Communications achieves its growth potential."

Faster Broadband Connections Onstream
Customers of Belfast-based Rainbow Telecom are set to benefit from free superfast broadband. The company is the first in Northern Ireland to state its pricing structure ahead of the roll-out of next generation superfast broadband by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment, (DETI) due to be completed by May 2011.

Rainbow Flag To Fly From City Hall
The rainbow flag is set to fly from Belfast City Hall on Pride Day this summer in a first for Northern Ireland. Belfast City Council took the decision to fly the symbol linked with the LGBTQ+ community on Saturday 03 August following a proposal by councillors.

Investigation Launched After Burglary At LGBT Charity Offices
An investigation has launched following a burglary at an LGBT charity's offices in Belfast. A number of laptops were stolen and the office of The Rainbow Project was smashed in Waring Street. It is believed the burglary happened sometime between 6.45pm on Tuesday, 17 July, and 7.45am on Wednesday, 18 July. Several windows were also damaged.
