Ministers Call For An End To The Flag Protests
The First and deputy First Minister have called for an end to the loyalist protests against the decision to reduce the number of days the Union flag is to fly at Belfast City Hall.
In their statement, Peter Robinson and Martin McGuinness said: "We recognise and support the right to peaceful protest but the way forward is through dialogue.
"The current protests are damaging Christmas trade and the local economy as well as disrupting peoples' daily lives.
"An absence of street protests would provide the space to allow us all to work together to find an agreed solution."
Many politicians have also received death threats and 40 people have been arrested.

Minister Reacts To Teachers' Union Ballot Threat
Education Minister Paul Givan has responded to the announcement by several teachers' unions that they plan to ballot their members for industrial action over 2024/25 pay. Earlier this year, the Minister provided funding to successfully resolve the long-running industrial dispute over teachers' pay for 2021-24.

Man Extradited From US Over Historical Child Sex Abuse
A 68-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for a series of indecent assaults on a child in the 1970s. Damien Desmond Anderson, originally from L'Derry, was extradited from the US to face justice. He was convicted of 12 counts of indecent assault against a female who was 11 years old at the time of the abuse.

St George's Rent Request Dismissed
Belfast City Council has turned down a request from St George's market traders for two months rent free to compensate for lost trade during Union Flag Protests. The traders have noted their disappointment but have welcomed the councils plans not increase stall fees for 2014. Free rent would have cost the council just over £65,000.
