Second Man Sues Mauritian Police Over Michaela McAreavey Murder
A second man acquitted of the murder of Michaela McAreavey in Mauritius is seeking compensation from the island's authorities.
The 27-year-old was killed at the Legends Hotel last year while she was on her honeymoon.
Avinash Treebhoowoon and Sandip Moneea were cleared of the killing.
Earlier this month Mr Treebhoowoon said he will also be suing the police on the island.
Mr Moneea, 43, wants compensation of 80m Mauritian rupees, almost £1.6 million.
A new investigation into her killing is being investigated by detectives.

Man Charged After Glenarm Shooting
Detectives investigating the incident on Feystown Road on Monday, 25 November, have charged a 41-year-old man with attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and criminal damage. The accused is due to appear at Ballymena Magistrates’ Court today, Thursday, 28 November.

Man Jailed In Connection With Annahilt Cannabis Farm
The PSNI has welcomed the sentencing of a man at Craigavon Crown Court in connection with a cannabis farm disovered in Annahilt in February, 2023. Clive Weir, from the Annahilt area, was sentenced to 18 months in prison and 18 months on licence.

Man Dies After Bus Fall In Belfast
Detectives are investigating the death of an 80-year-old man who fell from a bus in Belfast. Police have said that they believe the man was travelling on a 2J Translink Metro bus service at around 11:15am on Friday, 08 November, when he suffered a fall as the bus travelled along Royal Avenue, near it's junction with North Street.

Man Extradited From Ireland To Face Serious Charges
A 33-year-old man has been extradited from Northern Ireland to the Republic of Ireland to face serious charges. The man is accused of assault causing harm, coercive control, contravention of a safety order, theft, and possession of a weapon. The alleged offences occurred in the Monaghan area between 2020 and 2021.
