Schoolboy Murder Convictions Quashed
Three men will face a retrial after their convictions for murdering a County Antrim schoolboy were declare unsafe.
Aaron Wallace, 23, Christopher Kerr 25, and Jeff Lewis, 22, all of Ballymena, were convicted of killing 15-year-old Michael McIlveen in May 2006.
Wallace and Lewis were originally found guilty of murder.
They were sentenced to jail for terms ranging from 10 to 13 years.
But the convictions were quashed when it was ruled the jury was wrongly directed towards its verdict.
Senior Appeal Court judges have now decided fresh proceedings should be brought against them.
Michael McIlveen died after being chased and attacked by a crowd in Ballymena in May 2006. He was attacked and beaten as he lay injured in an alleyway.
The case will begin at Antrim Crown Court on 28 January.

Ballymena Teen Murder Trial To Move Court
The trial of six people accused of murdering a Ballymena teenager has been moved to a new court. Defence teams for those going on trial accused of murdering 15-year-old Michael McIlveen said they do not believe a fair trial would be possible because Coleraine Court was not big enough. The case will now be heard in Antrim court.

28-Year-Old Arrested In Connection With Violent Ballymena Attack
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a stabbing incident in Ballymena. A man is being treated in hospital for serious injuries to his head, neck and stomach after he was reportedly attacked at his home in the Grove Road area. The incident is said to have taken place shortly after 4am this morning.

Two republicans from Derry have had their convictions quashed, in Northern Ireland’s Court of Appeal. Raymond McCartney and Eamonn MacDermott were found guilty of murdering RUC officer Detective Constable Patrick McNulty in 1979. Both men claimed they were brutalised in police custody, and denied any involvement in the murder.

Massereene Conviction Quashed
A man who was jailed for his part in the murder of two soldiers at Massereene Army base in Antrim has had his convictions overturned. 47-year-old Brian Shivers, from Magherafelt, has successfully challenged his convictions for the murders of Sappers Mark Quinsey, 23, and 21-year-old Patrick Azimkar in March 2009.
