CDEnviro Secures Contract In Brazil

CDEnviro in Cookstown has secured its first major contract in Brazil after participating on a trade mission organised by Invest Northern Ireland.

The new contract was announced by the Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster when she visited the CDEnviro offices in Sao Paulo.

Arlene Foster said: "This is an immensely important contract for CDEnviro and for Northern Ireland in one of the world’s most dynamic economies.

"CDEnviro's success demonstrates that Brazil can be a rewarding market for local companies particularly if they develop a presence on-the-ground. By increasing the presence of Northern Ireland companies with offices here we can help to pave the way for other local businesses to successfully trade in Brazil."

The project will see CDEnviro supply equipment to be applied to the washing of tomatoes post harvesting and the subsequent removal of soil from the water used for washing. This will allow the water to be reused and it will introduce significant efficiencies to the production process.

DRD Accused Of Poor Handling Of A5 Project

DUP MEP Diane Dodds has questioned the level of commitment displayed by the Minister for Regional Development, Danny Kennedy, in addressing the plight of the many local farmers negatively impacted by the DRD's poor handling of the A5 project.

Mrs Dodds said: "With the DRD Minister's mishandling of the A5 project continuing to reach new depths, the need to address the plight of local farmers left in limbo by the latest High Court ruling has become ever more critical.

"I find it astonishing, therefore, that the DRD Minister has appeared willing to shirk this responsibility. Thus far he has been stationary at the wheel, ignoring important questions. This approach must change as a matter of priority. To this end, I understand that the Minister will come before the DRD Committee next Wednesday to discuss issues around the A5. We need straight answers.

"With £800k paid to landowners and not a blade of grass in public ownership it is high time Minister Kennedy started answering questions about this shambles."
