Cookstown Company Secures Brazil Contract
A Cookstown company that specialises in waste reduction and recycling equipment has secured a major contract in Brazil.
CDEnviro in County Tyrone secured its first major contract in the country following a trade mission organised by Invest Northern Ireland.
The project will see CDEnviro supply equipment for the washing of tomatoes, post-harvesting, and the removal of soil from the water used for washing.
The new contract was announced by the Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster when she visited the CDEnviro offices in Sao Paulo.
"This is an immensely important contract for CDEnviro and for Northern Ireland in one of the world’s most dynamic economies," she said.
"CDEnviro’s success demonstrates that Brazil can be a rewarding market for local companies particularly if they develop a presence on-the-ground. By increasing the presence of Northern Ireland companies with offices here we can help to pave the way for other local businesses to successfully trade in Brazil."
The Minister continued: "Invest Northern Ireland has recognised the size of the Brazilian market, the diversity of opportunity and the potential that exists. Over the last few years there have been a number of trade missions to the country and an experienced marketing professional has also been appointed to provide advice and practical support to local companies who are seeking to export.
"This strategic focus on Brazil is assisting companies, both large and small, and across a variety of sectors, to explore this market and others in South America such as Chile, Peru and Columbia. It is also providing opportunities to encourage Brazilian companies to look to Northern Ireland as the destination of choice for business investment."
CDEnviro General Manager Matt Bunting added: "The contract is the outcome of our decision to appoint a Business Development Manager in Brazil to help us in identifying opportunities as they become available and then to bid for the business as quickly and effectively as possible.
"This new contract represents our first move into the agri/food sector and presents us with significant opportunities for further export growth in the years ahead. It is with one of the largest food producers in the world and this demonstrates the potential for us to further develop our business in this area and secure further export orders."
"In the build up to our involvement on the Brazil Trade Mission, Invest NI’s marketing consultant in Brazil provided invaluable advice and guidance and helped in identifying potential customers in what is a huge and sophisticated marketplace."
