£495k Resurfacing Works Scheme For Ballykelly

Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy has announced a £495k investment towards major resurfacing works in Ballykelly.

The resurfacing scheme will be carried out at Clooney Road, near Limavady and is due to begin on 20 June at Wallworth between Riverview and Ballykelly Forest.

It is expected to take 21 weeks to complete, but traffic disruption will be minimal for a significant portion of the works, with only minor delays expected.

Additional signage will be displayed to give advance notice of resurfacing operations which will be undertaken outside of peak traffic hours to minimise disruption to the travelling public.

Mr Kennedy said: "The scheme will include the provision of footways and combined cycle paths to encourage the public to incorporate more sustainable modes of transport into their daily lives.

"Drainage improvements and street lighting will also be upgraded as part of the works which together with resurfacing will provide significant improvement to the roads asset and to the benefit to road users for many years to come."

The scheme is expected to be completed by 15 November.
