Loyalist paramilitary group claim bomb attack

Loyalist paramilitary group, the Red Hand Defenders have admitted planting a bomb outside the offices of Republican Sinn Fein in west Belfast yesterday.

The device was found by a member of staff as they opened the premises on the Falls Road yesterday morning.

Army bomb experts eventually carried out a controlled explosion on the device which contained an explosive substance attached to an alarm clock.

The Red Hand Defenders has been used as a cover name by both the UDA and the LVF in the past.

Republican Sinn Fein are the political wing of dissident republican group, the Continuity IRA.

Pharmacist Sentenced For Drug Offences
A 27-year-old pharmacist from Belfast has been sentenced to 180 hours of community service for unlawfully possessing and stealing controlled prescription drugs. Adam Hanna pleaded guilty to charges under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and the Theft Act 1969. The offences took place at a North Belfast pharmacy between January and March 2024.

Four Arrests Follow Assault Rifle Discovery
Police have arrested four men after an assault rifle and ammunition were discovered in a vehicle in Belfast. The men were detained and have been taken to Antrim police station for questioning. The arrests have been made in relation to dissident republican activity.

Three Arrested After Viable Bomb Found In Strabane
Three men have been arrested after a viable bomb was found during a security alert in Strabane. The discovery was made at a property in the Drumrallagh estate on Sunday, 29 April. Around 10 homes had to be evacuated during the alert which was being carried out as part of a police investigation into violent dissident republican activity.

Controlled explosion carried out at office of Republican SF
A suspect device has been found outside the offices of Republican Sinn Fein in west Belfast today. Army bomb experts carried out a controlled explosion on the device which contained an explosive substance attached to an alarm clock. A member of staff found the device as they opened up the premises on the Falls Road this morning.

DfI Outlines Congestion Mitigation Measures In Belfast City Centre
The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) has announced a series of measures aimed at alleviating traffic congestion in Belfast City Centre. A strategic oversight group, comprising the DfI, Belfast City Council, PSNI, and Translink, has been formed to identify and implement effective solutions to reduce peak-time delays.
