Airline to launch Belfast-Dublin scheduled service
Regional airline Aer Arann Express has confirmed details for a new Dublin-Belfast service.
Mainly catering for business passengers, the service, which Aer Arann estimates will carry over 40,000 passengers between the two cities over the next 12 months, will commence on June 18 and provide two flights a day.
Commenting on the announcement, Padraig O'Ceidigh said: "With three million passengers a year moving between Dublin and Belfast, two million by bus, and one million by train, Aer Arann Express recognises the need for reliable air access between North and South.
"We are confident that we can capture a substantial percentage of this market and are constantly looking at ways to enhance our service through new destinations and increased frequencies."
John Doran, Chief Executive Belfast City Airport said he believed there would be considerable demand for a Belfast-Dublin service from the local business community and that Belfast City looked forward to working with the airline to promote this new service.
With fares from EUR80 and £60 return, the 40-minute Aer Arann flights will depart Dublin Airport at 7.15am and 3.55pm. The return flights from Belfast City Airport will depart at 8.15am and 4.55pm.

Examiner Appointed To Aer Arann
The Dublin High Court has appointed an examiner for troubled airline, Aer Arann. The airline said it intends to operate normally during the period of examinership and intends to fly all Aer Arann services and all Aer Lingus Regional services operated under franchise agreement with Aer Lingus.
