Immigration Officers Arrest Two Bangladeshi Men

Two men have been arrested by immigration officers at two businesses in Northern Ireland.

A Bangladeshi man, 23, was arrested for overstaying his visa, after staff at the Home Office were carrying out checks at Babu's mini market in Gilford on Wednesday.

On Thursday night, another Bangladeshi man was detained at the Bangla restaurant in Bangor for also overstaying his visa.

The two men are currently being held in Larne House.

Both businesses have been served with a penalty notice.

Mike Golden for the Home Office, said: "Foreign nationals who are in this country illegally should be in no doubt that they will be caught, arrested and removed from the UK.

"We are determined to crack down on immigration offenders and anyone found living or working here illegally is liable to be detained and removed."

A viable bomb was discovered on the Brian's Well Road in Poleglass on Sunday, 15 January. Police said the device was designed to "kill or seriously" injure officers serving in the local community.

Two men arrested in connection with McCartney murder
Two men have been arrested by police in connection with the murder of Belfast man Robert McCartney in January. The arrests were made in Belfast and Birmingham on Wednesday with both men, aged 36 and 49, transferred to Antrim police station for questioning.

Four Men Arrested For Dissident Activity
Four men have been arrested in Newtownabbey on suspicion of dissident republican activity. PSNI officers detained the men on Thursday evening aged 30,35 and 46. They are being questioned in Antrim police station.
