Musgrave Group To Shed 102 Jobs
Labour TD, Robert Dowds, has said the news that the Musgrave Group is to shed 102 jobs at the Superquinn operation in Lucan is deeply regrettable and has called for management to respect the welfare of employees.
Mr Dowds said: "I have spoken to the Musgrave Group today and discussed my concerns for the welfare of the staff affected. I understand that there will be a 30-day consultation period with staff and I am hopeful that a generous redundancy package will be put in place. Job losses at any time are difficult for any community and today's development shows how the collapse of the economy 5 years ago is still having repercussions for the retail sector.
"I welcome the fact that the Musgrave Group is seeking to redeploy as many of the affected staff as possible, and that they will assist others to find alternative employment. These job losses are deeply regrettable and I very much hope that the management of Superquinn have the welfare of the employees affected as their highest priority over the coming months. As a TD representing the Lucan area, I am available to meet anybody affected to discuss the supports or options available to them."
