Orangeman's Home Attacked In Coleraine
A senior Orangeman's home in Coleraine has been vandalised with graffiti and had a flag stolen.
The Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland condemned the attack on the home of Coleraine District Master George Duddy.
The incident is thought to have occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Four senior Orangemen have now had their homes targeted over the course of the past three weeks, according to the Order.
An Orange Order spokesman said: "These deliberate attacks have occurred over the period of the last three weeks with all four members holding office at District level or above.
"Given such a coincidence, it seems we can draw no other conclusion that these individuals are being targeted solely because of their membership of the Orange Institution.
"Republicans have a long track record of attacking Orange property – however, these personal attacks on local Orange leaders clearly demonstrate they are determined to suppress Orangeism in an even more sinister way."
The attack on Sunday followed an attempt of arson at an Orange Hall in Newry, County Down, on Saturday.
Paint was thrown on the outside walls of the Robert L Mitchell Memorial Hall, located on the Downshire Road.
Roof tiles were removed and it is thought that newspapers were used in an attempt to set the building alight.
The attack occurred during the early hours of Saturday morning.
District Master Jonathan Wharton said: "This was a blatant sectarian attack and those who carried out the wicked deed, under the cover of darkness, should be ashamed of their actions.
"Not content with their wanton vandalism, they clearly desired to reduce this long established and historic building to nothing but rubble and ruin – fortunately, they did not succeed.
"Newry District would appeal to any members of the public who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to contact the PSNI immediately."
