Belfast Production Picks Up Emmy
A Belfast production company has picked up an Emmy Award for documentary film-making.
Below the Radar TV received the prize for its documentary 'Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God'.
The HBO film, directed by Alex Gibney, received the Emmy from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
Culture Minister Carál Ní Chuilín said: "This win is a further boost for a powerful film which has already gained international recognition and a number of awards."
The documentary, which examines abuse in the Catholic Church, was made in conjunction with HBO Documentary Films and Wider Film Projects.
The Minister added: "The Emmy Awards are highest-profile honours in television. This win underlines the growing confidence of the film industry here in the north, and is the latest example of a local company competing on a global stage.
"Film and television production are aspects of the creative industries here which are going from strength to strength. The industry, in common with this film, is built on talent, expertise and hard work – and this award reflects that endeavour."
The film was named among the jury winners this week, and will compete in five further categories at the Primetime Emmy awards next month.

Derry's Nerve Centre wins top animation award
A short animated film produced by the Nerve Centre in Derry has won the top animation award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. 'Pullin the Devil by the Tail' won the McLaren Award For New British Animation, seeing off competition from over 30 animated films.
