Ten Marathons In Ten Days For NI Duo
Two men from Northern Ireland are currently attempting to run 10 marathons in 10 days at Stormont for the charity Cancer Focus.
Coleraine men Peter Ferris MBE (57) and Harold Reilly (33) began on 15 August and are expected to complete the challenge on 24 August.
The pair will be running run up and down the hill at Stormont, from the main front gates to Lord Edward Carson's statue.
The stretch measures 0.84 miles each way, meaning 16 return laps every day will be required to complete the challenge.
The duo are inviting the public to join them on their run in return for a donation to Cancer Focus. They will be running from 8am every day until the task is completed.
Joyce Savage, Head of Appeals and Marketing at Cancer Focus, said: "These men have set themselves an amazing task that will challenge them both mentally and physically, all in aid of our local cancer charity. Please support them in any way you can, whether that's a monetary donation or some company running alongside them on one of their ten days.
"The money raised from this event will help to support people living with cancer in our local community, so we’re asking the public to come out in force and show their support."
Mr Ferris has completed 417 marathons, including some in extreme conditions such as the South Pole, and has raised more than £500,000 for charity over the years.
Mr Reilly has currently run 180 marathons to date.
