Seminar To Help Local Firms With EU Funding Opportunities
Sinn Féin MLA Declan McAleer has announced details of a major seminar for local businesses and community organisations to help them maximise EU funding opportunities.
The event will take place in the Mellon Country hotel on Tuesday 27 August and will be hosted by Martina Anderson MEP.
Mr McAleer said: "A key objective of this seminar is to inform people of the different funding streams that are available for community projects and business development. There is a perception held by many that European funding begins and ends with PEACE but this is not the case.
"Sinn Fein MEP Martina Anderson has lined up a number of key speakers who will give presentations on the various avenues that groups and businesses can go down to find new areas of funding.
"The speakers include Denis McMahon who is a senior official in OFMDFM, Colette Fitzgerald head of the European Commission office in Belfast and Richard Osterhus from Derry City Council's European funding unit.
"Every year millions of pounds that could be available for local communities are being unused due to a lack of knowledge of what is available and how to access them. This seminar is an attempt to access this funding for the benefit of our entire community."
