£410k For Mid Ulster Resurfacing
£410,000 funding has been announced for two resurfacing schemes in the Cookstown and Magherafelt areas
Transport Minister Danny Kennedy made the announcement today.
He said: "This significant investment will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of two busy routes within the Mid-Ulster area.
"Preparatory work for a £120,000 resurfacing scheme in the Magherafelt District Council area has begun on the Glen Road in Maghera from the Glenshane Road to the Tullyheran Road."
The Minister continued: "Preparatory work in the Cookstown area has also started on the Tullywiggan Road, from Grange Road to the entrance of Tullyhogue Fort. This £290,000 scheme is programmed to be completed by the 21 October 2013."
The scheme is expected to take a total of four weeks to complete.
A road closure will commence on 14 October 2013 for a period of two weeks.
During this closure traffic will be diverted via the Dungannon Road and the Sherrigrim Road.
A statement from the Road Service said: "Roads Service has carefully programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public, however motorists should be aware that some delays may be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys."

Two Road Improvement Schemes For Newcastle
Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has said work is to commence next week on two road improvement schemes in Newcastle, Co Down. The schemes will total £324,000. Work on a £270,000 resurfacing scheme on the U6208 Shimna Road, Newcastle, and a £54,000 resurfacing scheme on Park Avenue, Newcastle, is to start on Monday 13 January 2014.
