Derry Council Accused Of Not Honouring Pledge
Derry City Council has been accused of failing to deliver on a promise of £10m for City of Culture celebrations.
The Culture Company claim that the council pledged £14m, but to date have only paid just over £4m.
The Culture Company is to wind down operations in March 2014, three months earlier that planned. It has been suggested that this decision was taken due to the councils failure to support it financially.
Recycling Rates In NI On The Rise
Newly published figures have revealed that just less that half on Northern Ireland's waste is sent to landfill.
Between April and June just under 49% of 240,500 tonnes of rubbish ended up in landfill.
During the same period the municipal recycling rate rose to 42.1%, an increase of 1% for the same period last year.
The household recycling rate also reached a new high of 42.7%.
City Hall Lit Red For RBL Poppy Appeal
Belfast City Hall was lit up with red lights on Thursday night to signal the launch of Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal.
Under the lights the 50-strong children's choir from the Glencraig Integrated Primary School also performed at the opening of a reception in the Banquet Hall, where the public were urged to wear their poppies with pride again this year.

Primark Donates £500,000 To Support Businesses Affected By Fire
Retailer Primark is donating £500,000 to Belfast City Council's City Recovery Investment Fund. The fund is being set up after a number of businesses have been severely affected by the fire at the Bank Buildings which happened over three weeks ago. A cordon remains in place and 14 firms have been closed for up to four months.

St Patrick's Day event has support of BCC says councillor
The Chairman of Belfast City Council’s Good Relations Steering Panel has challenged claims that the Council is not supporting St Patrick’s Day in Belfast. It follows a protest outside Belfast City Hall last week by the St Patrick's Carnival Committee who claim the Council isn't funding this year's event at the City Hall.
