Liam Adams Jailed For 16 Years
Liam Adams has been jailed for 16 years for raping and abusing his daughter.
In October 58-year-old Adams, brother of Sinn Féin's Gerry Adams, was convicted of 10 charges, including rape and gross indecency.
The judge described the abuse suffered by Aine Adams, ho waived her right anonymity, as the "greatest imaginable breach of trust".
The abuse took place over a six year period between 1977 and 1983 when Aine was aged between four and nine.
Despite denying the charges throughout the trial, Adams was convicted by a jury after four hours of deliberations by a majority of 11 to 0ne.
Due to sentencing guidelines that applied at the time of Liam Adams offences he is eligible for automatic 50% remission.

Pharmacist Sentenced For Drug Offences
A 27-year-old pharmacist from Belfast has been sentenced to 180 hours of community service for unlawfully possessing and stealing controlled prescription drugs. Adam Hanna pleaded guilty to charges under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and the Theft Act 1969. The offences took place at a North Belfast pharmacy between January and March 2024.
