Derry man jailed for sex offences
A Londonderry man has been jailed for 11 years after being found guilty of a series of sex charges against teenage girls.
The 43-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was sentenced at Londonderry Crown Court today after being found guilty of 31 offences included two charges of raping his daughter.
The man had originally admitted to 29 charges of indecent assault against his daughter, two nieces and a neighbour's daughter between 1997 and 2002.
Many of the assaults took place when the man was supposed to be taking the girls to school.
He was placed on the sex offenders' register for life.

A Co Antrim man has pleaded guilty to sex charges in the United States involving an under-age girl. Stan Mallon, a former acting chief executive of the Ulster Scots Agency, pleaded guilty to the charge of attempting to persuade, induce and entice an under-age girl.

New sex offender procedures revealed
New procedures for assessing and managing sex offenders posing a risk to the public in Northern Ireland have now been established, a new report has said. The report, by the Northern Ireland Sex Offender Strategic Management Committee (NISOSMC), revealed that the number of registered sex offenders in Northern Ireland on 31 March 2005 was 544.

Convicted Sex Offender Hands Himself In To Police
A convicted sex offender who was unlawfully at large in England has handed himself in to Northern Ireland police. PSNI appealed for help in finding Fermanagh man James Taggart last week, reporting he was seen recently in the Essex area. The 27-year-old handed himself into a PSNI station yesterday, Monday 26 July.
