Traders Set Up Stall At St George's Christmas Market
Budding traders on the council's Market Start Up Programme are selling their unique range of giftware at St George’s Market during its extended opening hours in the run-up to Christmas.
Belfast's historic market opened during the evening last week (Monday-Wednesday) and will open from 4pm-9pm this week.
There will be choirs and other entertainment each evening, and every purchase made during the evening hours will entitle the shopper to free entry into a ballot to win their very own 'stall' crammed with more than 100 products and other prizes.
The Market Start Up Programme, funded by Belfast City Council, was open to aspiring entrepreneurs across the city dedicated to opening their own food and craft businesses. The programme consisted of tailored workshops on market trading, one-to-one mentoring on the development of business ideas and help for budding traders with sourcing new materials, packaging and display.
Participants on the free enterprise initiative will now be selling a selection of their products at the Christmas market at St George's this week including bespoke crafts and ceramics; textile arts; hand-crafted jewellery and hair accessories; luxury desserts, cakes and festive themed confectionery; chutneys and pickles; personalised cards and stationery and high-quality photographs of local places.
