Appeal Over Newtownstewart Robbery

Detectives are appealing for information following a burglary at a house in the Davis Crescent area of Newtownstewart, County Tyrone, over the weekend.

It is reported that, at some stage between 18:30 on 17 January and 13:00 on 19 January, a house in the area was entered and a large amount of cash stolen.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed this incident or who saw anyone in the area of Davis Crescent over the weekend to contact CID in Strabane on 0845 600 8000.

Pensioner Injured After Home Intrusion

A 62-year-old pensioner has been left with injuries to his face after an attack at his home in County Antrim.

Two men entered the man's Coolehill Crescent home in Glengormley, Newtownabbey, at around 10:30 on Friday morning.

In the attack the man suffered a facial injury that is described by police described as "not life-threatening".

Second Carrick Bomb Alert Ends

A second bomb alert in the same area of Carrickfergus in 24 hours has ended.

The alert caused up to 30 people to be moved from their homes in the County Antrim town.

It was the second in Broadlands Gardens within 24 hours. Residents were moved to a leisure centre for the duration.

Police said the object found during the alert was a hoax.

Farmer Convicted Over Cattle Regulations

A farmer has been convicted at Newry Magistrates Court of two charges under the Cattle Identification Regulations and one charge under the Cattle Identification Regulations.

Mr Shane Duncan, Freeduff Road, Cullyhanna, Co Armagh, was found guilty in his absence and was fined £900, plus £37 costs and £15 offender's levy.

This case arose from a number of discrepancies found at a Cattle Identification Inspection.

Bomb Discovered At UUP Councillor's Home
A viable device, found near the home of a Ulster Unionist councillor in Fermanagh, has been made safe. The bomb was discovered after a telephone warning claimed that a house in the Rosslea area had been attacked. A device was found by the son of UUP councillor Harold Andrews at the end of their lane, yesterday.

Security Alert Launched In Co Tyrone
The PSNI have launched a security alert in Dungannon, Co Tyrone. A suspicious object was discovered in the Fairmount Park area on Wednesday, 17 January. The road has been closed and a number of residents have been evacuated from their homes. No further information has been released.

'Small Bomb' Found During Security Alert
Army bomb experts have been called to examine an explosive device found at an apartment block in east Belfast. Police said that a number of residents were evacuated from the apartments in the Short Strand Road area at about 20:00 on Tuesday night. They described the device as a "small bomb". No further details have been released.

Residents Evacuated In North Belfast Alert
Residents have been forced to evacuate their homes in north Belfast following a report of a suspicious object in the area. The homes in Clifton Crescent were evacuated after the report of an object in the area on Monday afternoon. An army bomb squad has been tasked to the scene and the area has been closed to traffic.
