Pair To Go On Trial For Bernie Acheson Murder

A husband and wife now face murder charges in connection with the death of a pensioner.

Jennifer Toland, 24, and Paul Toland, 40, from County Antrim had previously been charges with manslaughter.

Today the pair returned to Ballymena Magistrate's Court for trial on charges of murder and robbery.

Bernie Acheson, 72, from Coleraine, died from a heart attack after his house was burgled on 30th April 2012.

The couple have been released on bail and are to appear at Belfast Crown Court in March.

Man Charged After Glenarm Shooting

Simon Tang: Second Murder Charge Withdrawn
A second murder charge over the killing of Chinese restaurateur Simon Tang in 1996 has been withdrawn. Belfast Magistrates' Court has heard the case against Paul Allen will not proceed. Mr Allen, 39, of Drumhoy Drive, Carrickfergus, faced charges over the murder of Simon Tang. Mr Tang was a married father of two.

Willie Frazer Arrested For Bail Breach
Prominent loyalist campaigner Willie Frazer has been arrested for breaching his bail conditions. The 52-year-old was arrested on Monday at about 19:30 in the Portadown area. He is expected to appear in court today. Bail conditions were imposed following charges linked to union flag protests earlier in the year.
