Simon Tang: Second Murder Charge Withdrawn
A second murder charge over the killing of Chinese restaurateur Simon Tang in 1996 has been withdrawn.
Belfast Magistrates' Court has heard the case against Paul Allen will not proceed.
Mr Allen, 39, of Drumhoy Drive, Carrickfergus, faced charges over the murder of Simon Tang.
Mr Tang was a married father of two. He was killed in an attack in which he was beaten and robbed outside his takeaway business in Carrickfergus, County Antrim, in 1996
His watch and the takings for the evening were stolen during the attack. Mr Tang was taken to hospital but died from his injuries.
No one has yet been convicted of the killing.
The news follows the withdrawal of murder charges against 36-year-old George Robinson of the Hollies, Carrickfergus, on Wednesday.
Charges against two women accused of supplying false alibis have also been dropped.
34-year-old Jacqueline Scanlon of Woodburn Drive and 35-year-old Leanne Wilson from The Cherry Walk in Carrickfergus faced charges of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Detectives investigating the fatal attack have confirmed they are continuing in their inquiries.

Man Arrested Over Simon Tang Murder
A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Simon Tang. Mr Tang was killed outside his business in Carrickfergus in 1996. The 34-year-old was detained this morning on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. Two women have already been charged with perverting the course of justice and are due to appear in court at the end of May.

Shot Man's Wounds 'Not Life Threatening'
A 35-year-old man has been shot twice in the leg inside a house in Twinbrook on the outskirts of Belfast. A young girl and a woman were in the house in the Summerhill Drive area when the attack happened on Wednesday night. However, it is not believed that the man's injuries are life threatening.

Belfast man pleads guilty to attempted murder charge
A Belfast man charged with attempted murder has pleaded guilty at court today. Gerard Donegan last week apologised for attacking Maurice McCracken in March 2003 with a hammer. The resulting injuries left the 56-year-old man severely brain damaged and unable to walk.
