Two Jet Skiers Rescued In Limavady

Portrush RNLI has rescued two jet skiers after the got into difficulties at Benone Beach, Co Londonderry.

The alert was raised by a friend of the two men, who noticed that one had fallen off the jet ski and into the water. The weather conditions at the time were blustery and chilly, and the sea was choppy and extremely cold.

After being quickly rescued by the RNLI station's all-weather crew, both men were taken to hospital. They were very cold as they had been in the water for some time and were not wearing wetsuits.

The crew later returned to the area to recover the jet ski as it could have posed a risk to other boats and vessels.

Lifeboat Operations Manager, Robin Cardwell, said that as the summer season starts, they will continue to welcome people to the enjoy the North Coast, but added: "We would advise everyone to check their safety equipment after the winter months to make sure it is still in good condition."
