Shot Fired Through Draperstown House Window

A shot has been fired through the window of a house in Draperstown, County Londonderry, on Saturday evening.

The family escaped injury in the incident, which occurred at about 22:00 in the Drumard Road area.

The PSNI is currently attempting to establish a motive for the attack.

Any information can be passed to the PSNI on the non-emergency number 101.

Man Helped From W Belfast Fire

A man has been rescued from a fire that occurred at flats in west Belfast.

Fire crews assisted the 25-year-old from a balcony on the fourth floor of the Clonard Street building in the early hours of this morning.

The man was taken to hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.

It is thought that the fire, which broke out shortly before 03:00, started accidentally.

Pair Convicted Of Benefit Fraud

Two people have been convicted at Belfast Crown court for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.

Gerard Larmour, 68, of Cloona Glen, Dunmurry claimed Pension Credit and Housing Benefit totalling £40,319 while failing to declare he was claiming an Occupational Pension.

He was given a 12 month prison sentence suspended for two years.

Eugene Nolan, 55, of Springfield Road, Belfast claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £24,194 while failing to declare capital. He was given an 18 month prison sentence suspended for two years.

Both are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

Pair Charged Over War Memorial Damage

A 20- and a 42-year old man have been charged with criminal damage and disorderly behaviour after police witnessed a war memorial being damaged in Newry, County Down.

The pair were arrested after CCTV footage showed wreaths and crosses from the cenotaph, which is situated at Bank Parade, being thrown into a river at 12:20 on Sunday.

The 42-year-old man was also charged with indecent behaviour.

The pair are due to appear at Newry Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 4 June.

L'Derry Properties Raided In Lyra McKee Murder Probe
Police have carried out a number of searches in L'Derry this morning as part of the investigation into the murder of Lyra McKee. A number of items were seized and taken for further examination, however no arrests were made. Ms McKee was shot dead in Creggan on Thursday 18 April during a night of dissident republican rioting.

Court appearance for attempted murder accused
A 41-year-old man charged with eight counts of attempted murder is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court today. The charges relate to a shooting incident in Cooke Street, in the lower Ormeau Road area of south Belfast in July of this year.

Man Escapes Injury After Shots Fired At Flat In West Belfast
A man has escaped injury after a number of shots were fired at a flat in west Belfast. The attack happened at a property in the Forfar Street area at around 10.30pm on Monday. A number of shots were fired through the front door of the flat and police said they are investigating a motive for the incident.

Man Arrested After Shots Fired In North Belfast
Police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting incident in north Belfast. It is understood that the 22-year-old man was arrested following reports of shots being fired on Oceanic Avenue at about 21:50 on Thursday. Police say that a parked car was damaged in the incident.

Police Appeal After 'Shot Fired' In North Belfast
Police have launched an investigation after reports of a shot being fired in north Belfast. No-one is believed to have been injured in the incident in the Farringdon Court area on Thursday. Police are keen to establish what happened and are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.
