MTV Concert Coming To L'Derry
A major MTV live music event is to take place at the Ebrington barracks site in L'Derry in September.
Derry City Council has made a "significant investment" in bringing the gig to the city, it has been reported.
No acts have yet been confirmed, but the event follows L'Derry's hosting of the Radio 1 Big Weekend last year, as part of the city's stint as the first UK City Of Culture. It featured acts like Biffy Clyro, Bruno Mars and Rita Ora.
Outgoing Mayor and SDLP Waterside Councillor Martin Reilly said: "As one of my last acts as Mayor of Derry, I was delighted to sign the contract to bring MTV to the city later this year. This global brand will bring Derry, as a Music City, a hugely positive international engagement for the young citizens of our city to enjoy on the Ebrington site just as they did last year with Radio 1’s Big Weekend.
"This is another example of Derry City Council delivering great events for the citizens of Derry in partnership with other government bodies."
