Two Appointments Announced To The Governing Body Of NWRC
Employment and Learning Minister Dr Stephen Farry has announced the appointment of Dr Brian Burns and Mr Padraig Canavan to the Governing Body of North West Regional College (NWRC).
Referring to the appointments, Minister Farry said: "NWRC has an established track record of understanding and responding to the needs of the economy, employers and learners in the North West.
"I am confident that the appointment of Dr Brian Burns and Mr Padraig Canavan will further enhance the skills and expertise of the NWRC Governing Body. This will ensure that the College continues to develop an entrepreneurial approach to learning and takes forward an even more proactive role in supporting business and industry in the region."
The Governing Body of a Further Education College is responsible for securing the efficient and effective management of the college, determining its strategic direction, appointing its senior staff and ensuring that the College acts as a responsible employer.
The appointments of Dr Burns and Mr Canavan will take effect on 01 August 2014 for a period of four years.

New Further Education Sector Takes Shape
Northern Ireland’s 16 Further Education (FE) colleges are to merge into six larger area based groupings from 1 August 2007. Minister for Employment and Learning, Sir Reg Empey, highlighted the importance of the mergers and confirmed that the number of college campuses delivering courses locally would not change as a result of these mergers.
