HMRC Staff Stage Walkout In Dispute Over Job Cuts
More than 1,500 HM Revenue and Customs employees in Northern Ireland are to stage a walk out today in a dispute over job cuts, as part of a week of rolling strikes taking place across the UK.
Years of successive job cuts have left the agency unable to cope, according to the Public and Commercial Services union.
It is understood that a consultation is underway considering the closure of HMRC offices in Newry, L'Derry and Enniskillen.
According to the union, all of the services 281 walk-in tax offices are set to close, while the HMRC are considering the privatisation of its debt collection and post handling sectors.

SF Calls For Action On NI Mental Health Services
Sinn Féin has called for more to be done to improve mental health services across the north of Ireland. The party's mental health spokesperson, MLA Órlaithí Flynn, made the call after the release of the Registrar General's 2023 Annual Report which has highlighted an increase in deaths by suicide in 2023.
