£1.3m To Complete Unfinished Developments
£1.3m in Road Bond funding is being unlocked by the Department for Regional Development to complete road works and utility services in three housing developments left unfinished in Belfast and Lisburn, County Antrim.
Financial difficulties experienced by three developers have left uncompleted developments - Chestnut Hall, Maghaberry, Mount Eagles, Belfast and Glenburn Manor, Dunmurry - to fall into disrepair.
Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy said: "The Bond is a vital requirement within a development contract and is included to safeguard the public purse. Over the past months residents have seen DRD and NI Water complete the very significant amount of work required."
Frank Stewart, Developer Services Manager at NI Water, comments: "NI Water is pleased to advise that the sewerage systems serving developments at Mount Eagles in west Belfast, Glenburn Manor in Dunmurry and Chestnut Hall in Maghaberry have been successfully adopted. This good news follows the completion of work by NI Water which the original developer did not complete to a satisfactory adoptable standard."

Mystery still surrounds the reason for almost 1,000 pupils getting the wrong GCSE home economics results last August. A report undertaken by the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) into the mix up said they could not identify precisely how the problem arose.

PSNI Issues Building Site Security Warning
Property developers and new-build site owners to ensure homes are kept secure at all times, to avoid potential break-ins and valuable materials. PSNI Ards and North Down issued the warning amid an increase of reports across the UK of burglaries where copper piping and hot water tanks have been stolen from new-build development sites.

Titanic Quarter Sues Over Apartments
The developer of homes in Belfast's Titanic Quarter is to sue customers that have failed to complete the purchase of apartments, according to the BBC. Titanic Quarter Ltd, owned by Dublin-based firm Harcourt Developments, has issued writs against 12 customers, the report states. The cases are due to mentioned at the High Court in Belfast next week.
