Hope For Garth Brooks Fans?
Garth Brooks' fans may have been given one last hope that the five cancelled Dublin concerts could finally go ahead, despite details of refunds for the gigs already having been issued.
In a letter to promoter Peter Aiken, Mr Brooks wrote: "I cannot begin to tell you how badly my heart is breaking right now. I hope you understand that to play for 400,000 people would be a dream, but to tell 160,000 of those people that they are not welcome would be a nightmare.
"To do what the City Manager suggests (play three shows and not all five) means I agree that is how people should be treated and I just can't agree with that."
He continued: "Our guys are still en route and if there is any chance that the five planned concerts can be salvaged and nobody is being let down then we can proceed as planned until the refunds begin.
"If you think for any reason that the 'powers that be' in Ireland can fix this, then I will faithfully go to the last second."
The letter follows the cancellation of five gigs at Croke Park planned for later this month. The country singer had sold 400,000 tickets for the gigs, which were increased from an initial two to five to facilitate extra demand.
But Dublin City Council would only approve licencing for three of the concerts. Brooks responded by cancelling all the concerts.
He said to only play two of the five "would be like asking to choose one child over another."

'A' Level School Leavers Increase 5%
The number of pupils in Northern Ireland achieving two or more 'A' levels or equivalent increased by 4.9% during the five years to 2012/13, according to the Department of Education. The proportion of school leavers achieving two or more 'A' levels or equivalent was 55.1%, up from from 50.2% in 2008/09.
