Bomb Found Under Car In L'Derry
A bomb has been found under a car during searches carried out as part of a security alert in L'Derry.
Police and bomb experts attended the scene following the discovery of the bomb behind the rear wheel of a car outside a family home in the Westlake area.
The explosive device was found at about 07:00 and several dozen residents had to be evacuated from their homes.
Bomb experts carried out a controlled explosion to make the device safe. It was then taken away for examination.
The alert is now over and all residents have returned to their homes.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "Detectives are keeping an open mind as to the motivation behind the alert and they are appealing for witnesses or for anyone with information that could assist the investigation to get in touch with them."
Police can be contacted on the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, the independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111.

Viable Device Found In Co Tyrone
A viable device has been found following a security alert near Strabane, County Tyrone. A device was found on Ballyheather Road on Tuesday. The road has now been re-opened between the junctions of the Lisdivin Road and Clogher Road. Police and army bomb experts attended the scene.

Residents had to be evacuated from their homes after a suspicious object was found in the Lavinia Square area on Thursday night, 16 November. Army bomb disposal experts attended the scene and the area was sealed off. The device has been taken away for further examination.
