Dairy Industry Still Calculating Effects Of Russia Ban - UFU

The UK dairy industry is still attempting to calculate the effect of the current ban on EU agri-foods being imported to Russia, the deputy president of the Ulster Farmers' Union has said.

Barclay Bell made the comments during a meeting of representatives of the farming unions across the UK during a meeting in Northern Ireland.

"The recent announcement of Russia’s decision to ban all agri-food imports from the EU, as well as several other major countries has caused concern and dominated discussions; however, since the detail on the embargo was unclear at the time of the meeting, we are still trying to assess what it means for the entire UK dairy industry."

But, he said: "Overall, the meeting with our GB counterparts was very constructive and a lot of ground was covered."
