Yes Benefits Businesses - Farry
Employment and Learning Minister Dr Stephen Farry has met with Firstsource employees who have been recruited with the assistance of his Department's programmes.
The Department for Employment and Learning (DEL) has established links with Firstsource who have offered work experience placements through the Youth Employment Scheme (YES), recruited unemployed jobseekers and availed of the Steps to Work and YES employer subsidies.
Speaking at their Belfast premises, the Minister said: "Employers hold the key to helping young people prepare for work and harnessing their potential. I commend Firstsource who have recognised the importance of providing job opportunities for unemployed jobseekers and availing of my Department’s programmes, such as the Youth Employment Scheme.
"I recognise the important contribution which employers, large and small, have made to the scheme and my Department is seeking to work with business and industry as equal partners to grow our economy and to create a future for our young people in line with the Northern Ireland Economic Strategy."
The Youth Employment Scheme offers a range of opportunities including work experience, skills development and real jobs aimed at workforce development and economic growth.

Irish employers anticipate improvement in hiring activity
Irish employment confidence is showing signs of recovery, according to results of the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey. For the quarter January to March 2003, the Net Employment Outlook is 3%, which is a modest recovery of 7% points from the previous quarter’s pessimistic outlook.

Alliance Welcomes Youth Employment Scheme
Alliance Communities spokesperson Kellie Armstrong MLA has said while a new scheme for youth employment is welcome, it should have been established months ago. The JobStart scheme, which was originally due last year, is designed to support 16-24-year-olds wo are facing difficulties getting into employment due to the pandemic.
