Belfast Murders Arrest - Man Released
A 57-year-old man arrested in England by detectives investigating the Belfast murders of Gary Convie and Eamon Fox in May 1994 and of Sean McParland in February the same year has been released.
55-year-old Mr McParland was shot in Skegoniel Avenue in north Belfast on 17 February while babysitting and died a week later. 24-year-old Gary Convie and 44-year-old Eamon Fox were sitting in their car at a building site in North Queen Street on 17 May 1994 when a gunman opened fire with a submachine gun.
Police arrested the suspect in the Newport Pagnell area on Wednesday, with assistance from Thames Valley Police. He was questioned at a police station in southern England. A property was also searched in the Newport Pagnell area.
Detectives conducted the arrests as part of Operation Stafford, an investigation into a series of murders and other serious crimes by the UVF in north Belfast.

Bulgarian Man Arrested In NI Over Murder In Native Country
A man from Bulgaria has been arrested in connection with a murder in his native country. The PSNI detained the suspect in Co Antrim on Sunday, 17 December, after a European Arrest Warrant was issued in Bulgaria. The 41-year-old appeared before Belfast Recorders Court on Monday, 18 December, and has been remanded in custody.

Basque Flees NI As Extradition Looms
A Basque separatist convicted of 25 murders is believed to have left Northern Ireland. Jose Ignacio de Juana Chaos, 54, is wanted in Spain to face a charge of glorifying terrorism. De Juana Chaos, who had been living in west Belfast, was out on bail ahead of an appeal against his extradition.
