Young girl escapes injury in bomb find
The young daughter of a Prison Officer has escaped serious injury after she carried a bomb into her Co Down home last night.
The 10-year-old girl found the device in the garden of her Brunswick Road home in Bangor. She then brought it into the house but the bomb failed to explode.
Security forces were not informed of the incident for several hours because the girl's family did not realise the nature of the device.
Police believe the bomb had been sitting idol from an attack on the house the night before.
The security operation to defuse the device ended late on Wednesday evening.
Elsewhere, police in Londonderry are appealing for information after a gun-shots were fired at the home of a Catholic family last night.
Three masked men were seen approaching the house in the Beechland Gardens area of Clady at around 11pm.
One of the men then fired a number of shots at the front door before all three men made of in a nearby car.
The inhabitants of the house, which included a two-year-old and a four-month-old baby, escaped injury. They believe the attack was sectarian.

Petrol Bomb Thrown At Community Centre In L'Derry
A petrol bomb has been thrown at a community centre in Co L'Derry. The device was thrown at the Dove House building at around 11.30pm on Thursday, 18 August. Scorch damage was caused to the front of the building. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Prison officer's home damaged in bomb attack
A bomb has partially exploded outside the house of a former prison officer today. The explosion, which caused minor damage to the front door of the man's house in New Road, Donaghadee, is the latest in a long line of attacks on officer's homes. The remains of the device are being examined by forensic experts.

Flats damaged in overnight pipe bomb attacks
A number of flats have been damaged in overnight pipe bomb attacks in Co Antrim. In the first incident devices were thrown at the front doors of two flats in Rathcoole Drive, Newtownabbey just after 10pm. A short time later another device exploded at a ground floor flat in Carnbrook Drive, Antrim, causing damage to a bedroom.

Families escape injury in pipe bomb attacks
A woman and her son have escaped injury in a pipe bomb attack on their home at Ballynahinch in County Down. The device exploded at the front door of the house in Windmill Avenue around 2am on Friday April 26. The door was damaged and windows in the house and a neighbouring house were shattered.
