Driest September On Record For NI
The Met Office has said September 2014 looks set to be the driest September since records began.
Initial figures, which do not include the 29th or 30th of the month, reveal that just 6.5mm of rain fell in September. This is just 7% of the of the average amount of rainfall expected.
The last record was set in 1986 when 9.7mm of rain fell.
The figures come after the region experienced one of its wettest August's on record – more than 115% of normal rainfall levels.
Elsewhere, the figures show that the mean temperature of NI for the month was 13.4C, up by 1C. There was also around 118 hours of sunshine.
The record for the warmest September on record remains from 2006, at 14.2C, while the record for the most amount of sunshine goes to September 1991 with 164.4 hours across the region.

PRONI Marks Centenary With Tour Of Historical Documents
A number of historical documents, including a letter by Seamus Heaney and passenger logs from emigration ships that departed Foyle Port for North America in the mid-1800s, are to be put on display as part of a regional tour of local libraries by the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI).
