Woman Dies In House Fire
An elderly woman has died in a house fire in Lurgan, Co Antrim.
The blaze started in a mid-terrace house in Lurgan Tarry at around 11.50am on Monday.
The victim, who is understood to have been in her 70s, was found inside the property. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is thought the fire started in the living room.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) said: "Early indications would suggest the fire was accidental.
"The smoke alarms in the property had activated and alerted care workers arriving at the property and they raised the alarm."

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.

Fatal House Fire In Newtownards
A woman in her 30s has died in a fire at a house in Newtownards, Co. Down. The fire occurred at a house in Ilex Avenue at around 5.30pm and the woman is reported to have died at the scene. An investigation into the circumstances of the death is being conducted by police who have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

NIFRS Announces New Policy To Reduce False Alarm Incidents
The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) has announced a new policy to address the growing challenge of false alarms and reducing unnecessary call-outs. The new False Alarm Policy will come into effect from 01 February, 2024, and is in response to the increase in false alarms which the NIFRS has said has "reached an unsustainable level".
