Belfast Couple Win Euromillions Jackpot

A couple from Belfast are understood to have won a £12.9m Euromillions jackpot.

The winners scooped £12,935,936.30 in Friday night's (14 November) Euromillions draw, the National Lottery has confirmed.

Earlier today, the couple went public with their win.

The winner, who has been named as Mary Hamilton, 65, said she only discovered she had secured the jackpot when she went to her local petrol station and she was told they could not pay out due to the amount.

Another customer who was in the shop at the time then checked the numbers, leading Mrs Hamilton to discover she was a millionaire.

Mrs Hamilton and her husband Sandy have said they want to use the money to do something for the community in Northern Ireland.

Since the launch of the National Lottery 20 years ago, 81 people in Northern Ireland have become millionaires after winning the jackpot.
